Garret Kramer on How To Recover From Loss of a Dream Job - VocationVillage
Garret Kramer on How To Recover From Loss of a Dream Job - VocationVillage Garret Kramer responds to a music business professional who asks for career advice after losing his dream job.Hello,Before I provide the answer, let me impart an understanding of how human beings create their perceptions. Think of the human mind like an elevator: when the elevator moves up towards the penthouse, we are understanding, compassionate, resilient, competitive, loving, but most importantly, for your purposes right now, insightful. As that elevator moves toward the basement, however, we are judgmental, anxious, insecure, egotistical, over-analytical, and insights are impossible to find. So, what Iâm getting at, is that our perceptions are created from the inside out, not vice versa. In other words, losing your job has no ability to create your state of mind. Quite the contrary: where the elevator is in the moment will always determine your perception of your circumstances. Now that this understanding is grasped, how can you use it to benefit your current life situation? Th e answer is this: Even in your writing I could sense your revved up process of thought. So what you need to immediately is take your foot off the gas pedal (as your tires are stuck in mud). Doing nothing right now, or being still, is the only way for that elevator to rise to a perspective where insight and answers will become obvious. At first glance, it may look like I have not directly answered your question. Yet the worst thing I could do would be to provide you with a quick and temporary fix. You are on the right track with your dream of following your passion. Just slow down and allow yourself to get there. Good luck.Garret Kramer, Author of StillPower and founder of Inner Sports, LLC. You need something that is going to be helpful to you when you are looking for work. It doesn't matter what you sell online because a lot of times free sites will not allow you to place your own website ads on their pages. A lot of times this will be what the site wants. It's important that you understand that you may not get as much traffic that you think you are going to get. What Do YOU Do
What Do YOU Do I havent shown you my newest headshot yet! Its by the wonderfully fantabulous Erin Leigh. Shes the bomb. Hello. My names Michelle, and Im an IttyBiz addict. I love me some Naomi Dunford, and pretty much listen to, oh, pretty much everything she says. Recently, she told the Blogosphere to answer some questions. Of course, Im obliging. But because I wanna. And because Ive had a crapton of new readers (hello, new readers!) that have gotten here last week by way of the Etsy Storque. Man, was that awesome. If youve yet to read Six Success Secrets with the When I Grow Up Coach, Id love for you to. If nothing else, the comments alone will insert a big love injection into your day. Now, the questions: 1. Whatâs your game? What do you do? Im The When I Grow Up Coach! I help creative types devise the careers they think they cant have, or discover it to begin with. Its amazeballs. Also, I say things like amazeballs. 2. Why do you do it? Do you love it, or do you just have one of those creepy knacks? A bit o both, I suspect. Im a creative type myself, and after chasing a 20-year-old dream to be on Broadway (which took me to NYUs Tisch School of the Arts, a cruise ship, Key West, the set of Saturday Night Live, among other desirable and undesirable places), I decided that it was not my grown-up dream. I refused refused, I tell you! to settle for an unpassionate career. Its just not in my make-up. So after much hullabaloo, I found life coaching, and decided to be the coach that I needed when I was between dreams. 3. Who are your customers? What kind of people would need or want what you offer? You mightve noticed my title: Creative Career Coach. But can I tell ya a secret? I use creative as a, well, gate-keeping word because you said it everyones creative. The people I most enjoy working with, and who I feel I fit best with, are those that associate themselves with the word creative. Ive worked with illustrators, designers, photographers, writers, scrapbookers, quilters, musicians, comedians, yogis, knitters, interior designersyou name it. Ive also worked with art directors, copywriters, lawyers, entrepreneurs, urban planners, librarians, project managers, research analysts, epidemiologistsyou name it. And some of those people were one in the same. ?? 4. Whatâs your marketing USP? Why should I buy from you instead of the other losers? Ha! Those other losers are not losers at all, but probably more hippy-dippy, come-to-me-for-coaching-and-well-read-your-crystals sorts. They might also be calling themselves coaches but arent really, not being certified like I was in June of 09 by the International Coach Academy. Also, Ive been-there-done-that, so I absolutely know where youre coming from, one creative type to another. And did you see above that I use the word amazeballs? Because I do. Often. 5. Whatâs next for you? Whatâs the big plan? Directly next is The Declaration of You, my very first e-course! I think early 2011 will hold an e-book (or two) and a nice group coaching launch, and the yearll be rounded out with some speaking and in-person workshops. Ooh, that sounds like a good year. Your turn! Says me. And Naomi. Mostly Naomi. Shes way more threatening.

4 Traits Of Elite Resume Writing That Will Stand Out
4 Traits Of Elite Resume Writing That Will Stand OutIf you have an elite resume writing career, you must know how to make your resume stand out. You must remember that there are four things that every elite resume must have. These four traits will attract the attention of the hiring manager in no time.Firstly, your resume should stand out and at the same time, appear to be short. The purpose of your resume is to make the hiring manager decide whether or not you are right for the job. If you want to impress the hiring manager, then you must have your resume appear to be short and to the point. It must only be a few pages. A lot of folks don't like resumes that are too long. The next trait of a good resume is that it should be done well. In fact, you should be able to reproduce your resume and cut and paste it from there. This is the most important thing you should remember when it comes to elite resume writing.Of course, your resume should be complete. If your resume is not complete, y ou cannot read it. It must be current and in most cases, fresh. The third trait of a good resume is that it must contain many important and attention grabbing keywords. These keywords are the only thing that will attract the attention of the hiring manager. Your resume must contain them all and you must think about how many of them are critical.Lastly, you must remember that your resume should be in your employer's own words. You should not make it seem that it is someone else's resume. You must think about how to make your resume stand out and be the leader of the pack. Now, if you have some experience and expertise, thengo for the best. But most of the time, you will be asked to create a resume that can be easily recreated. Use keywords that appear as critical as you can. You should be able to pull your resume out and read it instantly.
