What Do YOU Do

What Do YOU Do I havent shown you my newest headshot yet! Its by the wonderfully fantabulous Erin Leigh. Shes the bomb. Hello. My names Michelle, and Im an IttyBiz addict. I love me some Naomi Dunford, and pretty much listen to, oh, pretty much everything she says. Recently, she told the Blogosphere to answer some questions. Of course, Im obliging. But because I wanna. And because Ive had a crapton of new readers (hello, new readers!) that have gotten here last week by way of the Etsy Storque. Man, was that awesome. If youve yet to read Six Success Secrets with the When I Grow Up Coach, Id love for you to. If nothing else, the comments alone will insert a big love injection into your day. Now, the questions: 1. What’s your game? What do you do? Im The When I Grow Up Coach! I help creative types devise the careers they think they cant have, or discover it to begin with. Its amazeballs. Also, I say things like amazeballs. 2. Why do you do it? Do you love it, or do you just have one of those creepy knacks? A bit o both, I suspect. Im a creative type myself, and after chasing a 20-year-old dream to be on Broadway (which took me to NYUs Tisch School of the Arts, a cruise ship, Key West, the set of Saturday Night Live, among other desirable and undesirable places), I decided that it was not my grown-up dream. I refused refused, I tell you! to settle for an unpassionate career. Its just not in my make-up. So after much hullabaloo, I found life coaching, and decided to be the coach that I needed when I was between dreams. 3. Who are your customers? What kind of people would need or want what you offer? You mightve noticed my title: Creative Career Coach. But can I tell ya a secret? I use creative as a, well, gate-keeping word because you said it everyones creative. The people I most enjoy working with, and who I feel I fit best with, are those that associate themselves with the word creative. Ive worked with illustrators, designers, photographers,   writers, scrapbookers, quilters, musicians, comedians, yogis, knitters, interior designersyou name it. Ive also worked with art directors, copywriters, lawyers, entrepreneurs, urban planners, librarians, project managers, research analysts, epidemiologistsyou name it. And some of those people were one in the same. ?? 4. What’s your marketing USP? Why should I buy from you instead of the other losers? Ha! Those other losers are not losers at all, but probably more hippy-dippy, come-to-me-for-coaching-and-well-read-your-crystals sorts. They might also be calling themselves coaches but arent really, not being certified like I was in June of 09 by the International Coach Academy. Also, Ive been-there-done-that, so I absolutely know where youre coming from, one creative type to another. And did you see above that I use the word amazeballs? Because I do. Often. 5. What’s next for you? What’s the big plan? Directly next is The Declaration of You, my very first e-course! I think early 2011 will hold an e-book (or two) and a nice group coaching launch, and the yearll be rounded out with some speaking and in-person workshops. Ooh, that sounds like a good year. Your turn! Says me. And Naomi. Mostly Naomi. Shes way more threatening.
